AROI Karnataka extends its heartiest congratulations to Dr. Nilanjana Dahiya, Postgraduate Student at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology (KMIO), Bengaluru, for presenting her research as an Oral Presentation at the 68th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO 2026) at Boston, USA. The study was carried out under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Lokesh V, Dr. Sunil RA, Dr. U. Amirtham and Dr. S. Pasupathy and others
Dr. Nilanjana’s study analysed pre-treatment tumour biopsies from patients with locally advanced cervical cancer and found that tumours with a high G2/M and low S-phase profile responded far better to chemoradiation. The findings suggest cell cycle profiling could help predict response and personalise treatment for high-risk patients.
This is a proud moment for radiation oncology in Karnataka, and a fine example of translational research coming from our postgraduate training programmes. We wish Dr. Nilanjana continued success.
