AROI Karnataka congratulates Dr. Vinay Muttagi, Radiation Oncologist at HCG Bharath Hospital, Mysuru, on winning the Best Paper Award at MEDLAWCON 2026, the 3rd National Conference on Medical Law, Policy and Ethics, held on 7 and 8 February 2026 at Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar.
The award-winning paper, co-authored by Dr. Muttagi, is titled “Legal Guardrails for AI-Based Detection of Breast Cancer and Its Implications.” The work fitted the conference theme, “Technology-Driven Healthcare: Governance, Law and Ethics,” examining the legal and ethical safeguards needed as artificial intelligence enters cancer diagnosis. The conference was organised by the GNLU Centre for Healthcare, Ethics, Legal Advocacy and Policy Research (G-HELP).
As AI becomes part of everyday oncology practice, clinicians who engage with its legal and ethical dimensions play a vital role in ensuring it is used safely and responsibly. Winning recognition at a national law and policy forum is a distinctive achievement for a radiation oncologist, and reflects the growing breadth of our members’ contributions.
Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Vinay Muttagi and his co-authors!
